Get the Help You Need

When struggling with ADHD, anxiety, depression, or other mental health issues, it is often wise to consult with a specialized medical professional to discuss the possibility of medication. While taking a prescription is not usually a person’s first choice, there are times in which getting medication to assist the body and mind to achieve mental health is incredibly helpful, even necessary to feel better again.

PAC has a psychiatric nurse practitioner on staff who has the specialized training and experience to evaluate, diagnose, prescribe medication when it appears appropriate, and provide ongoing medication management.

Where do I even start?

We recognize that many people don’t know how or where to start with seeking medication, particularly when they are already struggling with feelings of anxiety or depression. People wonder if they need to talk to their primary care physician, a psychiatrist, or some other type of specialist. PAC understands the confusion and tries to make this process as easy as possible. Whatever your situation, PAC can be the first place to start:

  • Make an appointment for a medication evaluation and/or contact our office manager, Anna@pac.clinic, to make an appointment and discuss any questions around insurance coverage.
  • Your first appointment lasts for approximately 55 minutes. During that time the nurse practitioner will take your medical and psychiatric history and discuss whether medication could be a useful part of your treatment. You will have time to ask questions and a follow-up plan will be outlined. If there are issues that need to be addressed with your primary care physician or other provider, you will be advised to do so.
  • Ongoing monitoring and follow-ups will be crucial to ensure your best outcomes. These appointments with your psychiatric nurse practitioner will be a time for you to discuss your progress, questions, problems, and/or any side effects. These appointments are shorter than your initial evaluation and usually last only 15-30 minutes.
